POST EXPECTATIONS

In your posts, I expect that you will adhere to the qualities of good writing and attempt to write level four answers (as indicated on the performance chart you used to assess your "Bread" by Margaret Atwood answers).

Remember to include all of the five elements listed below if you wish to achieve a level four throughout this assessment.

In EACH blog post I will expect to see the following:

1. Proper identification of the novel you are writing about. An MLA style citation is required. You can also add to this formal identification by uploading an image of the book cover from the web. Within your blog post be sure to identify the novel by title and author. Remember that book titles are to be written in italics. See the sample below:

McClintock, Norah. Taken. Victoria, B.C.: Orca   Book, 2009. Print.

2. Proper use of language conventions (punctuation, spelling, grammar, sentence structure). Check your work carefully before publishing.

3. Organized responses (topic sentence, body with support, closing sentence).

4. Use of the text as support for your ideas. Direct quotations with proper MLA style citations are preferred over summaries. A proper MLA style in-text citation includes: (Author's last name, Title page)

EG: (McClintock, Taken 23)

5. Short responses (between 60-100 wds).

One of the skills you will need to use this year is correctly formatting in-text and bibliographic citations using the format described by the MLA guide. Go here to see the updated MLA guide.

We will be using the MLA format for citing NOVELS. You should review this information before you begin; it is found here: MLA format for BOOKS. You can also use the following website to format your MLA style bibliographic citations: http://www.easybib.com/
